In the 3 years since the first launch of Ear Works 4 many things have happened in the highly dynamic world of technology:
EW5 Pre-release Form
- we’ve been blown away by the rise of tablets pioneered by the iPad
- we’ve seen 4 versions of iPhone, 3 iOS versions, the birth and growth of Android OS and an explosion in mobile computing
- Web 2.0 is now the standard with its new simplified design and powerful features
- the software design in general is lighter, more user friendly and less technical
- the rise of the Apps – minimalist applications built for a single purpose – changes the way we see computers
This has been an exciting time for Ear Works Inc as well.
In these last 3 years we’ve released many updates and improvements for Ear Works 4.
We’ve also expanded our service offering to include many new consulting and outsourcing opportunities for hearing clinics.
Then earlier this year we’ve launched our web initiative, the Hearing Pages platform, changing the way we market hearing clinics and hearing aids online with the potential to build a stronger industry for all of us.
The next step is, naturally, a new major Ear Works version.
Introducing Ear Works 5
We’ve mentioned Ear Works 5 several times on our forums during the last months.
It’s been in active development for the last few months in parallel with EW4.3.
The Goal
Our goal with Ear Works 5 is simple: making it easier for you and your team to use the software you rely on every single day.
Inspired from so many great new programs out there as well as mobile and
web applications and with the help of our new designer and Art Director
– you can see her magic touch throughout Hearing Pages – we’ve
simplified the Ear Works interface like never before.
Below are some samples of what you will see in EW5:
EW Explorer
The new EW Explorer is a unified interface that allows you to search,
explore, organize and report on most items in EW from one easy to use
window.
Inspired from mobile and mac apps the new interface makes it easy to
navigate between related items and easily find and use the information
you are looking for.
You can, for example, find a John Anderson file, check his balance right
in preview, see the list of invoices by clicking the balance, then
access any particular invoice and print or take payment right there in
the same window.
The left-to-right flow will feel very familiar to the Mac, iPhone and
iPad users and it’s one of the most intuitive ways of drilling down any
amount of information. It’s what you naturally do when you browse the
internet, but this time it’s your own patient information.
Improved item windows
Organizing the action buttons and the linked items for an easy scan-through the new layout makes it easy to focus on what’s important without any distraction.
Fast-Flow wizards
Whenever you create an item you execute certain steps that you either figure out by yourself or you learn during training.
In EW5 we introduce Fast-Flow wizards that help you focus on one thing
at a time and get things done faster than ever before. Here’s an
example: the new Report Wizard.
Vertically tabbed windows
Using the same user friendly vertical navigation the new multi-tab windows allow you to quickly scan through the pages and find the setting or information you’re looking for. This also allows for a larger number of tabs and more precise categorization of features.
To make things even easier to use and manage EW5 will also include some brand new features based on high-demand requests like:
- a better battery club (for example “Buy 10 packs – Get 1 free”)
- Simply Accounting integration (yes, I can hear your excitement already)
- Dashboards
- KPIs
- new integrations
- additional reporting tools
We want EW5 to be the most intuitive, dead simple and easy to use OMS in our industry while remaining the most comprehensive.

Roadmap and Pricing
Ear Works 5 is planned for a first release early next year.
The price for the upgrade will be $1400/main office and $800/additional offices, significantly lower than the Ear Works 4 upgrade to make it easier for you and your team to enjoy these great improvements.
All clients that purchased EW4 in the last 6 months receive the update free of charge, while the licenses activated 7 to 12 months ago get a 50% discount.
Early Bird rebate
Early Bird special price of $900/main office and $500/additional office is now available for all upgrades pre-ordered before November 21.
All pre-orders come also with an optional EW5 preview installation (once available) that will run in parallel with EW4 to help you transition to the new version in the smoothest way possible and to give feedback on the ongoing developments.
With this parallel installation you get the peace of mind of always being able to switch back to the familiar EW4 interface during the transition period.
